The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has officially installed Leslie Nkansah Osei Bonsu as the new Paramount Chief of Asante Mampong following a swearing-in ceremony held on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the Manhyia Palace.

After taking the oath of allegiance, he was formally gazetted as the Asante Mamponghene and assumed the stool name Daasebre Osei Bonsu III, becoming the new occupant of the Asante Mampong Paramount Stool.

At the ceremony, chiefs from various divisions of the Asante Kingdom urged the new Mamponghene to prioritize peace, unity, and cooperation as the foundation for development within the Asante Mampong Traditional Council. They also cautioned him to maintain a firm stance against illegal mining activities, a position strongly upheld by his predecessor, the late Daasebre Osei Bonsu II.

In his acceptance speech, Daasebre Osei Bonsu III pledged to continue the legacy of his predecessor by working tirelessly to ensure development, peace, and stability in the traditional area.

He becomes the 17th occupant of the Asante Mampong Silver Stool, a role considered second in hierarchy within the Asante Kingdom in the absence of the Asantehene.

Following the ceremony, several traditional rulers expressed confidence in his leadership. One queen mother said the chiefs expect peace, unity, and development under his reign and pledged their full support.

Leslie Nkansah Osei Bonsu was officially presented to the Asantehene by the kingmakers of Asante Mampong and the Mampong Queen Mother as the nominee for the stool on December 18, 2025.
