    Port journalists Network meets with Centre for International Maritime Affairs

    Members of the Port Journalists Network (PJN) have met the Centre for International Maritime Affairs, Ghana (CIMAG).

    The meeting was to introduce newly-created Ports Journalists’ Network to stakeholders of the sector.

    The Network is made up of seasoned journalists who have been reporting on the sector over the years found it important to come together to service the industry better through their reportage.

    Secretary of the Network who led the group, Josephine Antwi-Adjei said the role of the media cannot be underestimate.

    She said CIMAG can be a strategic partner in the drive to promote and project the industry as a research think tank organization, there will be need to know more about some of their findings to be able share with the maritime community.

    This would help project the industry and its issues, she said.

    Josephine Antwi Adjei noted what maritime journalists report can influence policy, therefore there is a needed to report accurately.

    On the support to project the industry and its issues, the treasurer of group, Della Russel Ocloo pointed out that the good research findings from such credible outfit could be captured in the bi annual reports adding that the network has fine brains to project the industry.

    Seeking partnerships to equip maritime journalists with knowledge and capacity building, improving upon the level of professionalism was also discussed.

    Senior Research Fellow for Ocean Governance and Maritime law, John Mark Nunana, Esq expressed his willingness to fully collaborate with the journalist to address the numerous plans.

    A Director of CIMAG, Danny Laud also welcomed the group and entreated members to uplift the image of the industry.

    Giving a background of CIMAG, the Executive Director, Albert Derrick Fiatui, said the organization was founded as a non-partisan institution, to advance policy thinking on pressing Maritime issues linked to the blue economic challenges.

    It provides the industry with a platform for policymakers and other stakeholders to engage with players from the Maritime business community.

    CIMAG seeks to provide a platform for stakeholder networking, create awareness through ground breaking quality research and advocacy work.

    The meeting attended by Josephine Antwi Adjei, Della Russel Ocloo, Elvis Washington and Evelyn Arthur from PJN.
