The team of National and Volta Regional Directorate of the Public Utility Regulatory Commission in addition to other stakeholders have embarked on an inspection tour of the Kpeve Headworks.

The team from the Water Services and Performance Monitoring Directorate of the Commission was represented by Mr Daniel Allan, Principal Manager, Mr Philip Agbezudor, Volta Regional Manager, PURC; and Mr Emmanuel Agbesi Foli, Public Relations Officer, PURC.

The management of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) in the Volta Region were represented by Mr. Ransford Nii Amoh Djan, Regional Production Manager, Mr Joshua Ampah, Regional Distribution Manager and Mr Wisdom Semevo, Regional Commercial Manager. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Agbezudor said the inspection forms part of the Commission’s commitment to monitoring and enforcing standards for utility services. “The visit sought to investigate the root causes of the recent water supply challenges that left Ho and surrounding communities without flow.”

He said by assessing the situation firsthand, the Commission aimed to identify practical ways to support GWCL in finding a lasting solution to the problem.  Mr. Agbezudor indicated their findings would be tabled to the Commission for collective efforts at permanently resolving the perennial water situation in Ho and environs as a Constitutional mandate.

This collaborative effort underscores the PURC’s dedication to ensuring reliable utility services and addressing pressing challenges in partnership with stakeholders to balance the needs of consumers and utility service providers. The Kpeve Headworks has become subject of concern for the frequent breakdown of a segment in the main pump, which shutdown supplies to Ho and its environs, and demanding a quick fix before danger strikes.
