Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has indicated that, the authorities  of the Gwiraman Senior High School in the Western Region cannot be blamed for the the death of a  21 year old final year  student, Nathaniel Yankey,  that occured at the Essikado Hospital.

A statement released by the GES Management explained that the deceased student  along with other students are lodging in a private hostel out of campus that was secured by their parents for their wards where they reside and commute to and from school on a daily basis.

The statement  further reports that the school had been notified when  Nathaniel Yankey left the hostel for his parents’ house last Friday when he felt unwell, and when the management of the school called to check on him on Wednesday was told he had passed on that morning.

The Management strongly indicates that the incident was not the mishandling of a sick student on campus as alleged by 3news.com.

They further went on to assure parents that all efforts are being made to ensure the safety of staff and students currently on their school campuses.
