The St Peter Methodist Church Choir at Mile 7, Accra, has marked its 25th anniversary with a vibrant thanksgiving service that brought together members, patrons, and well-wishers in celebration of God’s faithfulness.

The service, filled with spirited renditions of hymns and anthems, capped a week-long programme held under the theme “Choristers as Vessels of God: Celebrating 25 Years of God’s Goodness” (Colossians 3:16).

Earlier activities included “Unveiling the Hymnal: Stories and Melodies”, which explored the history and spiritual depth of selected hymns, and a symposium on “The Role of Choristers and Church Leadership in Church Growth,” addressed by Rev. Adomako Bempah Dweteh and Mr. Robert Paul Laryea.

In a goodwill message, Very Rev. Daniel Kodwo Sekyi commended the choir for its discipline and dedication to choral evangelism, urging it to continue growing in grace and service.

During the thanksgiving service, citations, medals, and plaques were awarded to founding members, devoted choristers, and patrons. Honourees included active inaugural members Isaac Amo Eduful, Judith Adjoa Gaisie Forson, and Noah Hagan, along with long-serving choristers such as Salome Donkor, Jennifer Baidoo, Juliana Mills, Diana Acquah, Mr. Dadzie, and Evelyn Akuoko.

Special awards went to Mrs. Elizabeth Boamah for mobilising singers and hosting the choir’s first rehearsals; Madam Regina Odoom, a founding member and Choir Mother; and Mr. and Mrs. John and Amy Dzandu, for their consistent financial support. Fifteen other patrons were also recognised.

The anniversary service also featured representatives from the Association of Methodist Church Choirs Northern Accra Diocese and the New Achimota Circuit, the cutting of an anniversary cake, and a fundraising drive in support of a church organ project.

The St Peter Choir, which began in 1997 as a youth-led ministry with 12 members, grew into a full choir in 1999 and was formally inaugurated in September 2000. Now under the leadership of Edwin Amoah-Mensah, it boasts 20 active members and 19 patrons, continuing its mission of enriching worship through sacred music.
