He said this when he gave the sessional address at the opening of a two-day Second Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, held at Sekondi.

Mr Faidoo during his maiden staff durbar on assumption of office, he identified among others the urgent need for an upward review of remuneration for the Assembly’s IGF staff.

He stated, “Therefore, I initiated discussions on how this could be done with the Coordinating Director, the Finance Officer, and the Human Resources Manager, and I am happy to report that these efforts have been fruitful.” The MCE believed that the increment would motivate them to strive for excellence in collecting enough revenue to help the Assembly execute its development projects.

Concerning security, Mr. Faidoo stated that the Metropolis remained generally peaceful and orderly, with the exception of a few isolated instances of petty theft and other minor offenses.

He gave the assurance that the Metropolitan Security Council, under his Chairmanship would continue to deliver on its mandate by safeguarding the peace in the area, saying; “Indeed, our strategy has been to be proactive rather than reactive at dealing with matters bothering on the security of Sekondi-Takoradi.”

On agriculture, he mentioned that the Assembly, through the Department of Agriculture had undertaken home and farm visits to educate farmers on good agricultural practices to enhance productivity and guarantee food security within the Metropolis.

On sanitation, the MCE said the Assembly would continue to push to secure the requisite financial support to enable it modernise waste management, and improve upon the sanitary condition in Sekondi-Takoradi.

Mr Patrick Brempoh, the Presiding Member for the STMA, said the Assembly was making significant strides in championing development at every sector of the local economy.

He encouraged members to continue supporting the efforts of management and come up with innovative ideas that would build a more productive and prosperous metropolis for all.
