    Three accused in illegal mining case appear in court

    Freeman Kwafo, Augustine Asoma, and Bawa Muhammed have been arraigned before the Mpraeso Circuit Court for alleged involvement in illegal mining (galamsey) in the Eastern Region.

    According to a police brief on Wednesday, the suspects were apprehended on March 21, 2025, by some youth of Akoase in the Eastern Region and handed over to the police.

    The court granted the accused persons bail, and they are to reappear on April 25, 2025.

    The brief said investigations are ongoing into the alleged release of two Chinese suspects reportedly arrested alongside the three accused individuals.
