The Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) have announced a temporary load management schedule for parts of the Sunyani area following the breakdown of a power transformer belonging to GRIDCo.

In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, January 21, the two institutions explained that the measure is necessary to regulate electricity demand while repairs are carried out and the affected transformers are restored to full operation.

According to the statement, the load management plan divides the affected areas into three groups.

Group One covers areas including Nana Bosoma Market, Newtown, Estate, Baakoniaba, Asufufu, Wawasua, Nanketwa, Municipal, Town Centre, Zinco, Airport, parts of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), St. Mary’s, and surrounding communities.

Group Two includes Abesim Estate, Tanoso, Yamfo, Susuanso, GWCL, Abesim, Mayfair, Nkwabeng North, Odumase, Pastoral Penkwase, Synod NMTC, and nearby areas.

Under the load management schedule, power supply will be rotated among the three groups over a three-day cycle.

On January 21, 2026, Group Two will have power from 6am to 2pm, Group One from 2pm to 10pm, and Group Three from 10pm to 6am.

On January 22, 2026, Group One will be supplied from 6am to 2pm, Group Three from 2pm to 10pm, and Group Two from 10pm to 6am.

On January 23, 2026, Group Three will have power from 6am to 2pm, Group Two from 2pm to 10pm, and Group One from 10pm to 6am.

The schedule indicates the specific time periods during which each group will have electricity supply throughout the load management period.
