The youth of Agotime-Kpetoe have voiced their expectations for a District Chief Executive (DCE), who prioritizes their welfare and creates job opportunities to address the pressing needs of the district’s younger generation.

According to the youth, Ms. Vicentia Sename Leyo is the ideal candidate for the role of DCE. They believed her exceptional leadership qualities and deep understanding of youth challenges make her uniquely suited to partner with the hardworking Member of Parliament to advance the youth-centered agenda in the district.

Speaking with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr. Regan Adzri Bennet, one of the youth leaders, emphasized Ms. Leyo’s dedication to the youth. “Madam Leyo is the only person who takes the needs of the youth seriously and works tirelessly to address them,” he said. Other youth members echoed similar sentiments, highlighting Ms. Leyo’s commitment to their well-being. “Whenever she is in town, we feel recognized and appreciated. She always makes us feel valued, whether she’s in or out of the district,” some said.

Several individuals, who preferred to remain anonymous, also praised Ms. Leyo for her ability to unite and empower the youth of Agotime-Ziope. “She has the capability to bring unity and empowerment to the young people in the district. If we had two or three individuals like her, the future of the district would be completely transformed,” one resident remarked.

Some women, speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), expressed strong support for Ms. Vicentia Sename Leyo, emphasizing that she is the ideal candidate to lead the assembly and spearhead development in the Agotime-Ziope District.

Madam Cynthia Agba, one of the women, described Ms. Leyo as not only a “mother for all” but also a trailblazer, particularly in matters of gender equality. She highlighted the directive from the national level advocating for equitable distribution of political power within districts. According to her, since the Member of Parliament hails from Ziope, it is logical and fair for Ms. Leyo, who is from Kpetoe, to assume the position of District Chief Executive, ensuring gender and geographical balance.

“Ms. Leyo is a game-changer, and her leadership will bring significant transformation to the district,” Madam Agba stated confidently. Speaking to GNA, Ms. Leyo reaffirmed her commitment to addressing the longstanding challenges in the district if given the opportunity to serve.

She identified water and sanitation as her top priority, vowing to resolve the decades-old water crisis affecting Kpetoe and its surrounding communities. She also emphasized her dedication to youth and women’s empowerment, pledging to initiate programs aimed at fostering development and creating opportunities for these groups. “The growth of the district lies in the empowerment of its youth and women,” she stated.

Ms. Leyo’s candidacy continues to garner widespread support, with many residents’ hopeful that her leadership will bring meaningful and lasting change to the Agotime-Ziope District. Ms. Vicentia Sename Leyo is one of eight candidates vying for the position of District Chief Executive in the Agotime-Ziope District. A native of Kpetoe, she is a distinguished member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in both the district and the Volta Region.

Professionally, Ms. Leyo worked as a banker from 2006 to 2018 at Unity Rural Bank, serving in various branches across Ziope, Kpetoe, Ave-Dakpa, and Ho. Her academic credentials include a Diploma in Business Management Studies, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Credit Management and Finance), and a Master of Arts in Peace, Security, and Intelligence Management. She is currently pursuing a degree in Law at Wisconsin International University College.

The youth of Agotime-Kpetoe remain hopeful that Ms. Leyo will emerge as the chosen DCE, believing she embodies the qualities needed to champion their development and aspirations. They are optimistic that her leadership will bring significant progress to the district, especially in addressing unemployment and fostering unity among the youth.
