World Vision Ghana organized a 5-hour Media Dialogue on Environmental Sustainability and Climate Action on December 17, 2024, at the Sunlodge Hotel. The event aimed to foster media collaboration, raise awareness about Creation Care, and develop strategies to address environmental challenges in Ghana.
Keynote speaker Rev Dr Yaw Blasu emphasized the church’s role in Creation Care, stressing the importance of intentionality in addressing environmental issues. He defined Creation Care as practices that ensure the Earth’s integrity, as intended by the Creator.
Dr Blasu urged the church to lament, repent, and take hopeful, prayerful action to address environmental challenges. He noted that neglecting Creation Care is a grave sin, comparable to other immoral acts.
George Matey Okorley, Faith and Development Coordinator at World Vision Ghana, encouraged the media to utilize information centers and promote Creation Care through their reporting. He also urged Christian media to create content that promotes the Creation Care Framework and to research funding opportunities to support their work.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Yaw Blasu called on the media to help build a creation care culture and encouraged Ghanaians to willingly care for their environment as a part of their daily living.
