Management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has announced that the Dialysis will resume full operations next week.

Managment of the Hospital made the announcement in a press release dated August 10.

“The hospital it has secured a significant quantity of essential consumables for dialysis, which is currently being processed for delivery to Korle Bu from the Tema Port.

“The Ghana Revenue Authority and Ghana Supply Company are providing vital support to expedite this clearance on an emergency basis to ensure that we continue to deliver top-notch care to our valued patients.

“As a result, we anticipate that the outpatient section of our Dialysis Centre will return to full operations early next week,” parts of the press release read.

“While we had initially hoped to have these supplies cleared from the port two weeks ago, procedural lapses and documentation issues on the part of the shipping line unfortunately caused a delay in the clearance.

“During this period, we temporarily shifted dialysis operations and had some of the patients dialyzed at the National Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to minimize disruption and inconvenience to patients,” Management explained.

It added that “We are working diligently to resolve the clearance process over the weekend, and we are optimistic that normal services will resume promptly. We sincerely apologize to our patients and clients for any inconvenience this situation may have caused and wish to express our gratitude for their restraint and understanding.

The Management assured that “To prevent future shortages, improve our service delivery and cost efficiency, the Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, has procured 30 additional dialysis machines with a year’s supply of consumables, for Korle Bu.

The specifications of the new machines will allow us to access their essential consumables from the open market at competitive prices.”
