A 35-year old man, Kofi Avoka, has committed suicide after allegedly murdering his 27 year old pregnant wife at Ankwa Doboro, a suburb of Nsawam in the Eastern Region. The incident occurred on Thursday, August 5, 2021

Police preliminary investigations revealed that about 4;30am, the children of the deceased couples who were in a different room heard shouts for help from their mother. They saw their father hurriedly run out from the room.

Neighbours of the couples also narrate, the now deceased father run into their compound with a slashed throat. They rushed him to the Nsawam hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Their suspicions caused them to enter into the couples room and to their amazement they found the pregnant mother in a pool of blood with cuts on her face and the head.

The police were informed and necessary actions were taken. A blood stained cutlass was picked up by the police from the Scene.

The deceased were staying together at Ankwa Doboro with their three children.  The deceased was carrying the fourth child. I t is unclear what might have ensued between the couples to have caused such a thing to happen.

Their bodies have been currently disposed at the police hospital morgue for preservation awaiting autopsy.
