Apostle Collins Tettey, a Senior pastor of the Living Grace Ministries International, has urged the electorates to endeavour to participate in the December 7 polls so they can help in choosing competent leaders for accelerated national development.
He emphasised that voting was not only a civic right, but also an opportunity for the nation to elect leaders who could bring the development of the country to the next level.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Abesim, near Sunyani, Apostle Tettey expressed a worry that some electorates including Christians had decided not to participate in the General Elections.
“Some of them say they are fed-up with politicians in the country,” he stated, saying that was not a tangible reason for them not to vote.
Instead, he asked the electorates to go out in their numbers, make informed decisions and help the nation choose God fearing and development-oriented leaders and parliamentarians.
“One vote can make a difference,” he stated, adding, “your vote is therefore required for the nation to make a change in her development processes.”
Apostle Tettey also cautioned the youth against political violence, which would thwart or derail national development.
In a related interview, Nana Addae Kunkuma IV, the Nifahene (sub-chief) of the Sunyani Traditional Area, advised chiefs and queens to remain at the forefront of ensuring peaceful elections.
As the embodiment of the people, he said chiefs and queens ought to lead the peace campaign by sensitizing their subjects on the relevance of peace and social cohesion.
Nana Addae had earlier spoken at a ‘peace concert’ on the theme: “Ghana; Our Only Home”, held in Sunyani and organised by the Sunyani-based All Saints Choir.
