    Renowned Photographer, Steve Ababio passes away

    Renowned international travel and adventure photographer and filmmaker, Steve Ababio, has reportedly passed away.

    Family sources indicate that he succumbed to a brief illness on Sunday, December 29. The specific cause of his death remains undisclosed.

    The family has announced the dates on which they will welcome friends and loved ones to offer their condolences at the First Love Church, located adjacent to Trinity Bible Seminary—the Vineyard of Engeddi. They conveyed their profound grief regarding their loss.

    “It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing to glory of Mr Steve Ababio on Sunday 29th Dec 2024. We will miss him more than words can express.

    “The family of Steve Ababio will be receiving family, friends and loved ones who wish to sit with them and express their condolences on his passing.”

    The Dates and times for this are as follows:
    Mon 30th Dec: 4pm- 7pm
    Tues 31st Dec : 4 pm- 7 pm
    Thurs 2nd Jan: 4 pm- 7 pm
    Friday 3rd Jan: 4 pm – 7 pm

    The family noted that all visits will be at this location and not at his residence.

    Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.

    Profile

    Steve Ababio, born on May 17, 1968, was an internationally acclaimed travel and adventure photographer with a deep passion for capturing and presenting destination stories of Africa from an African perspective to a global audience.

    He attended the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School in Accra, also known as PRESEC, and was an alumnus of the College of Art at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

    A phenomenal photographer, Steve contributed to several print publications, including CANOE, a Ghanaian-produced magazine that celebrated African design, art, and fashion. He began documenting his travels in 2004/2005 upon his return to Ghana from the U.S.

    Steve was best known for his initiative, the Chasing Waterfalls Guide project, which showcased the African continent in a unique and exciting way.

    This project was the first in a planned series designed to highlight Africa’s beauty and diversity from a distinctive perspective. He recently published The Chasing Waterfalls Guide, further cementing his legacy as a visionary storyteller and ambassador for African destinations.
