Keta Senior Technical High Technical School (Ketasco) in the Volta Region, is set to host the Ghana’s 68th Independence Day parade at the municipal level.

This will mark a significant event bringing together schools and other institutions within the area to participate in a parade, to showcase their discipline and teamwork. The occasion, which is slated on Thursday, March 6, 2025, mark Ghana’s 68th Independence Day celebration after gaining freedom from her colonial masters.

Mr. Innocent Gawua, the Director, Keta Municipal Assembly and the Acting Municipal Chief Executive, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said that the parade would commence at exactly 0800 hours and all participating schools were expected to arrive in time for proper arrangements.

He explained that in a notable departure from the previous years, there would be no awards for first, second, or third places this year, instead, the focus would be on promoting unity, discipline and patriotism among students and that all participating schools would receive a certificate each.

He also indicated that only ten schools in the municipality and two cadets each from Ketasco and Keta Business College (KetaBusco) would be selected to partake in the independence parade from the area.

Mr Gawua said that the new directives were from the government to limit the number of participating schools, and the approach was aimed at fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose among the participants.

“We are depending on the Keta education directorate to name and publish the ten selected schools within the municipality that will take part in the independence parade.” He said Ghana’s 68th Independence Day parade anniversary in the municipality promised to be an exciting and memorable event while the parade will be a testament to the country’s rich cultural heritage and the importance of unity and patriotism.

Mr Gawua said the parade would not only be an opportunity for students to showcase their skills and discipline but also a chance for the community to come together and celebrate Ghana’s Independence Day.

As the day approaches, GNA observes that students and staff from some participating schools are gearing up for the event with rehearsals underway, while the air of excitement continues to build up within the communities.
