Right Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. (Rtd.) Bliss Divine Agbeko, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) Friday advised Christians to serve others by making themselves meaningful and relevant to them.He noted that “all who celebrated Easter should add service to others to their worship of God in their families, community, churches, and the nation as a whole.”
Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Agbeko gave the advice in his Easter message copied to the Ghana News Agency in Ho.”As Christians our families, communities, and churches should find us indispensable,” he stated. The Moderator continued that any Christian who could not serve others was not relevant in his or her perimeter.
He said Christ sacrificed and died for humankind not because he was guilty of any sin but because of the sins of the human race so Christians should also sacrificed themselves for others.
The Moderator urged them to live meaningful and purposeful lives as directed by Jesus Christ. He noted that as they could now see life beyond this life they should transposed their Godly lives into their physical lives, adding “Jesus Christ has broken the bond of our limitations, doubts, worries, fears and sickness.”
He said the repeated Easter rites such as crusades, conventions, picnics and others should bring positive change in the lives of Christians and be meaningful to all.”Easter celebration should not be seen as merrymaking alone but as a sober reflection that impacted positively on our lives which will bring fulfilling minds,” he added.
Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Agbeko said as Jesus Christ resurrected from the dead, Ghana as a nation should also resurrect from want unto the state of abundance. He called on all, especially Christians, to use all available arable lands to cultivate the food they needed.
The Moderator called on the government to “walk the talk” by providing the citizens with the needed equipment, resources and technical expertise to enable them grow food in abundance. He stated that by so doing the amount of money used to import food would be used for other purposes, adding “government in collaboration with the citizens should work to become exporter of food instead of importer.”
He wondered how Ghana with its large tract of arable lands and numerous water bodies should be importing food from even the Sahelian countries. The Moderator whist wishing the citizenry a happy Easter season, admonished them to guard against activities that would bring pain and suffering to them and others.
