The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, shut down 16 food service establishments operating without valid hygiene permits in the Greater Accra Region.

The affected facilities were closed for failing to meet regulatory requirements. They include The Cheesecake House, Dolce Frizzante, Onda and Alora Beach Resort, among others.

The action follows a two-week public notice issued by the FDA, warning that effective February 1, 2026, all food service establishments operating without a valid Food Hygiene Permit would be shut down.

The announcement was made in a post on the Authority’s official Facebook page.

The FDA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public health and ensuring that all food service providers operate in strict compliance with approved hygiene standards.

The directive applies to a broad range of food-related businesses, including restaurants, lounges, hotels, chop bars, snack bars, food vans, bakeries, event caterers, online food vendors, and canteens in schools, hospitals and offices.
