Some students of Achimota Senior High School have tested positive for the delta strain of covid-19. The development came few hours after the Ghana Health Service confirmed to the covid-19 task force of the prevalence of the new deadly strain in local communities.

Ghana has been on high alert over the new strain barely 2 weeks after a passenger tested positive but it appears the effort of the Health Service has yielded little or no results as not only has the virus been recorded in communities but also students being camped at the Achimota school have tested positive for the new variant.

The chairperson for the PTA of the school said, “We gather that an unconfirmed number of students have tested positive for the delta variant of covid-19 and also we understand that these students are currently isolated.”

The Ministry of Education as well as GES will be releasing further information on the recorded cases.
