Parliament’s Appointments Committee is set to begin vetting President John Dramani Mahama’s nominees for the Supreme Court from Monday June 16  to Wednesday June 18, 2025.

The President nominated seven Justices of the Court of Appeal for elevation to the nation’s highest court, in line with Article 144 (2) of the 1992 Constitution.

The nominees include Justice Sir Dennis Dominic Adjei, Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh, Justice Senyo Dzamefe, Justice Kweku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo, Justice Philip Bright Mensah, Justice Janapare Bartels-Kodwo, and Justice Hafisata Amaleboba.

Their appointments, once approved by Parliament, will strengthen the judiciary.

The vetting process will assess the nominees’ qualifications, experience, and judicial philosophy to determine their suitability for the role. The proceedings are expected to generate public interest as Parliament reviews the nominees’ credentials before final approval.
