    Baasa Paramount Chief unveils education fund, urges students to learn and benefit

    Nana Owusu Sakyi III, the Paramount Chief of the Bassa Traditional Area in the Bono East Region, has launched an education endowment fund to support brilliant, but needed students in the area to pursue higher education.

    In that regard, the chief, also the President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs called on Bassa natives, home and abroad, to contribute to the fund so as to mobilize more resources to support the growth and development of education in the area.

    Nana Sayki III launched the fund at a colorful durbar held at Bassa to climax the first Akwasidae festival celebration of the chiefs and people of the area. He highlighted the benefits of education to the individual, the community, society and the nation, and urged the students in the area to capitalize on the fund and learn hard to achieve high academic laurels.

    Nana Sakyi III said with quality education, the development of the people and their communities would progress, and urged parents to also channel their little resources into the education of their children. The Paramount Chief congratulated President John Dramani Mahama for his electoral victory and successful inauguration, pledging the readiness and commitment of the chiefs and people of Bono East to support his government to achieve his vision for the nation.

    Nana Sakyi III also called on the President to appoint more people from the region to serve in his government too, and also do more to bring the development of the region to the next level, appealing to the government to reshape Atebubu-Akyeremade-Kwame Danso-Bantama-Wiase- Shafa-lailai stretch. He also expressed concern about recurring cases of armed robbery attacks in the area and called on the police to beef up personnel presence on some highways in the area.
