Captain of Black Stars, Andre Ayew

Black Stars captain, Andre Dede Ayew, has joined his teammates in the Black Stars after playing in the South Wales derby for Swansea against Cardiff City.

The Ghana captain flew straight to Accra after the game as he hopes to feature in the game against Sao Tome on Sunday.

He has been ruled out of the South Africa game along with other England-based players so will stay in Accra with a number of players due to the Corona restrictions involving travels between South Africa and the United Kingdom.

Players who defy this will have to quarantine for ten days if they travel to South Africa and that would mean missing a number of games for their clubs in England, something the clubs can not afford at such a crucial point in the season.

The charismatic leader missed Ghana’s defeat to Sudan in November, having inspired the team to victory in the first leg in Cape Coast.

The Black Stars lead Group C with nine points from three games, and a win in any of the two games will see them progress to the Nations Cup in 2022.
