Ghanaian chef and food enthusiast, Chef Abbys, will mark the 2025 World Food Day this October with a unique street food initiative dubbed “Big Street Feast.”

Scheduled for Thursday, October 16, the streets of Accra will be transformed into vibrant hubs of flavour and celebration, as the event brings together food trucks and stalls stationed at key points across the city. The initiative is expected to serve more than 15,000 people, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a warm meal. With the theme “Wherever You Are, Food Will Find You,” the Feast underscores the unifying and restorative power of food.

In a video shared on her social media platforms, Chef Abbys remarked that millions face daily uncertainty about their next meal, not due to scarcity of food but because of a lack of compassion and love. “This World Food Day, we’re rewriting that story,” she said.

The Big Street Feast is designed to remove barriers by taking food directly to communities, turning Accra into one vast, connected dining space.

The initiative also reflects the global theme, “Food is our Future: Partnerships that Feed the Future,” which stresses collaboration in building sustainable and food-secure systems.
