The 2025 Christian Home Week (CHW) Celebrations has been launched with a call to action to uphold the sanctity and purpose of marriage.

The CHW Celebration, an annual event organized by the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG) appointed Mr Patrick Yaw Boamah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikwei Central, as the Ambassador for the 2025 CHW Celebrations.

Speaking at the launch in Accra, Mr Boamah, the Ambassador, emphasised the importance of honoring marriage as ordained by God, saying, “Marriage is not just about two individuals; it unites families and strengthens communities.”

Mr Boamah whose appointment as an Ambassador recognizes his dedication to promoting the welfare of humanity, families and communities through his philanthropic initiatives highlighted the significance of building strong family institutions, stating, “When we honour marriage as ordained by God, we build strong family institutions.”

The MP who was the Special Guest to the official launch also emphasised the role of parenting in shaping the future, citing Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

He expressed his vision for a Ghana where love, peace, and purpose flourished, saying, “A thriving nation begins with thriving homes. It is my prayer that our collective efforts lead to a Ghana where love, peace and purpose flourish.

“As the nation comes together to celebrate CHW, the message is clear: strong families are the foundation of a strong nation,” Mr Boamoah said. The theme of the 2025 CHW, “Celebrating Marriage the Right and Meaningful Way,” served as a reminder of the importance of purpose, lasting love, and nurturing homes that inspired future generations.

The CCG organized the launch, which brought together distinguished guests, church leaders, the Registrar General’s Department, representatives from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs and community members to reflect on the beauty and significance of marriage.

According to the CCG the partnership with the MP aimed to strengthen marriages and family bonds, promoting a culture of love, respect and understanding.

The chairperson, Mr Koku Anyidoho, cited Genesis 1:26-27 to emphasize the divine origin of marriage between a man and a woman, referencing the United States of America’s President Mr Donald Trump’s stance on gender.

Meanwhile, the Special Guest of Honour, Dr Fatima Alabo, called on church leaders to prioritize marriage preparation education, stressing that marriage was a sacred institution that should be celebrated with Christ at its center.  “This highlights the importance of spiritual guidance in building strong, lasting relationships,” St Alabo said.
