Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister-designate, says his greatest responsibility if approved would be the creation of a safe Region for the citizenry.

He said he would as the Head of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) liaise with traditional authorities, Members of Parliament, Assembly members and other stakeholders in ensuring peace. Mr Gunu during his vetting said he would ensure that early warning measures were put in place to promote peace since there could not be development without peace.

He said he would ensure the boost of Internally Generated Funds (IGFs) at the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the Region. Mr. Gunu said he would encourage Assemblies to build capacities in areas such as planning, implementation, evaluation and budgeting as well as have revenue registers to ensure effective revenue collection. He said he would work and collaborate with Sector Ministers to protect the Region’s coastal belt.

Mr. Gunu said he would also collaborate with the Tourism and Roads and Highways Ministers to enhance tourism in the Region since there was much to be done on the roads to many tourist sites to make them accessible. He said the incident of some people damaging properties at the Ho Central Constituency office of the Party was under investigation and he would look at the report if approved and take action.
