The Electoral Commission says it is aiming to declare results of the December 7 President and Parliamentary polls 24hours after voting.

According to the Director of Electoral Services of the commission, the various regional and district offices of the EC have been equipped to deliver promptly after voting.

“We have given the register to the political parties about two weeks ago and since you haven’t heard any complaints, it means everything has been addressed. We are planning to declare results 24 hours after the election. That’s our plan,” Dr Serebour Quaicoe told Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Thursday.

Meanwhile, Security analyst Adam Bonaa says majority of security officials have their names missing on the electoral commission’s special voters list.

According to him, the development portends danger for the country in the December 7, polls.

The Electoral Commission released the list of Special voters on November 9, 2020. Special voters are individuals whose services will be required on voting day such security officials and journalists and so are allowed to vote ahead of election day. Special Voting will take place on December 1,2020 while the main polls will happen on December 7.

Speaking to Starr News, Mr Bonaa said the challenge must be addressed before election day.

“The issue has nothing to do with security agencies. It has to do with the EC. The EC should get their acts together and make sure the officers find their names on the special voter’s list. This is not hearsay. I have evidence and the EC should address the issue because people are not happy

“I know a senior officer who registered in his hometown and wanted to go and vote there. He goes to check and his name is not on the list. He goes around and finds out that his name is in Navrongo and even that, his name was spelt wrongly. I can tell you without fear that some units have about 99% of their personnel missing on the special voter’s list and these are real challenges,” he said.

Commenting on the development, the Director of Public Affairs of the Police Service Sheila Abayie-Buckman said the situation is being addressed with the Electoral Commission.

“It’s not everybody whose names have appeared on the special voter’s list. I understand that some problems might have come from us, but we don’t know what happened at the EC. Discussions are ongoing and if it’s possible for the EC to put their names on the list, we’ll submit the list. But if it’s impossible for their names to be added to the list, which looks likely, we will come out with a contingency plan”.
