The EKA family Union of Avenopeme, in the Akatsi South Municipality has held a general meeting at Opah in the Ga West Municipality of Greater Accra.
The objective was the inauguration of five key committees, each with a mandate to support the Union’s development effort within the Akatsi South Municipality and beyond.
The committees include the Welfare Committee, Investment Committee, Disciplinary Committee, Entertainment Committee, and Fundraising Committee.
The formation of the committees formed part of a strategic initiative by the EKA family Union to foster growth, unity, and progress among its members and to serve as a family citizen.
The EKA family has long been committed to promoting positive change in the region. In 2023, they took a major step forward by establishing and inaugurating a family Constitution.
The Constitution was designed to uphold family values, enhance the welfare of its members, and provide focused support to the youth, ensuring that future generations are equipped with the necessary tools for success.
During the general meeting, Reverend Emmanuel Dordzie, the chairman of the EKA Family Union, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration within the family. He noted that the family comprised many professionals across various industries, both locally and internationally.
Rev. Dordzie, said there was a growing need to bring these individuals together for networking and unionization, particularly to drive development in critical areas such as education and health within the municipality and among members of the Union.
“Education and health conditions in the Municipality need improvement,” Rev. Dordzie remarked. “It is imperative for families to unite in their efforts to support development initiatives in these areas.”
The secretary of the EKA Family Union, Madam Felicia Peteshie, also addressed the gathering, calling on women to actively support their husbands in the upbringing of their children.
She highlighted that raising children was a shared responsibility that required both parents to work together to instill strong family values.
Madam Felicia Peteshie emphasized that the EKA Family Union was dedicated to fostering a brighter future by instilling strong family values in the younger generation and its entire membership to support national development.
She added that they were committed to helping the youth to appreciate and uphold their rich cultural heritage, ensuring these traditions thrive for generations to come as a way of promoting family unity and progress.
Additionally, the Union is actively promoting vocational skills development among its members.
The inauguration of the committees marks a significant milestone in the EKA family’s ongoing efforts to make meaningful contributions to the progress of the Volta Region and serve as a model for other communities to fallow.
