The Community Cleaners Club, a group of young volunteers, has organised a clean-up exercise at Ngelekazo community in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region.
They desilted choked gutters, cleared weeds along some roads within the area, cleared filth along the seashore, and swept the entire community among other activities.
Mr Ishmael Kanga, Leader of the Club, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview during the exercise that it was part of the group’s effort to mobilise the people to ensure good sanitation and healthy environment within community.
“We have been doing this clean-up exercise in most of the communities within the Municipality, and this is what we can also do to contribute in keeping our communities clean and healthy for all,” he said.
He said cleanliness was a recipe for good health, so as a group, they would do everything within their power to ensure the community was safe and hygienic for the people.
Mr Kanga, however, appealed to the authorities, and benevolent individuals and organisations to support the group to acquire more tools to help extend their gesture to all communities in the Jomoro Municipality.
