In a bid to offer variety of tourist experiences in the Volta Region as well as the country, the first-ever Zipline tourist attraction has been opened in Kpando in the Volta Region.

Known as the Kpando Lake Mountain (KLM) Zipline, the Site was a Mountain Resort with a panoramic view overlooking the Volta Lake from the top of a mountain.

Dr Osafo-Kwaako, Proprietor of Kpando Lake Mountain (KLM) Zipline, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said activities or services rendered at the Site included a 700-feet Zipline, which allowed clients to fly at about 30 to 40 above land level and a short 40-feet canopy walk on a wire as well as a mountain climbing.

He said the reason for creating the Zipline Site, the first of its kind nationwide, was to boost tourism in the Volta Region and around the Volta Lake to give visitors and tourists in the region, a good memory.

Dr Osafo-Kwaako said patronage of the Site since it’s official opening on November 29, 2024, had been quite low and added that all services at the Site cost GH¢100 and a compulsory gate fee of the GH¢50.

He said the Volta Regional Directorate of the Ghana Tourism Authority had visited the Site and offered insights and advice on the way forward.

Dr Osafo-Kwaako, says the Site was offering free treat for Ghanaian children below the age of 16.

He said the treat was to offer the beneficiaries a nice experience as well as reduce the cost for parents and guardians who will visit the Site with their wards within the age range.

Miss Philipa Yayra, General Manager, KLM Zipline, said the Site would continue to offer good services to clients anytime they visited, adding that the safety of visitors and tourists remained a priority of the Site.

She said the Site now operated on public holidays and any other day convenient for tourists, but a tourist was required to give at least three days prior to the visit on days which were not holidays.
