The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has commissioned a modern cold storage facility and officially launched construction works for a Poultry Processing Complex in the Kpone Municipality.
The initiative, he said, is part of government efforts to curb Ghana’s heavy reliance on imported poultry products. According to the minister, the facility will provide poultry farmers with a reliable and organised market, strengthening local production and improving value addition across the poultry value chain.
Mr Opoku noted that the project reflects the government’s commitment to turning policy initiatives into practical infrastructure. He explained that it directly supports the objectives of the Feed Ghana Programme, which seeks to reduce the cost of poultry imports, strengthen food security, stimulate industrial growth, and create sustainable jobs.
He expressed appreciation to the German Ambassador, Beacon Source and Service Limited, and the Managing Director of Bostex Trading GmbH for their contributions, while urging development partners to work closely with government to ensure the success of the project through strong infrastructure, adequate financing, modern technology, and effective collaboration.
