Mr Francis Atta Kofi Akwakanor, a youth advocate, has been awarded the overall winner of the maiden Ghana Youth Empowerment Awards (GYEA) held in Accra.
Mr Akwakanor swept two categories of the awards – the Youth Advocate of the Year and Youth Graphic Designer of the Year – before being crowned the overall winner.
Miss Claudia Appau, an entrepreneur, was the runner-up after winning two categories: Youth CEO of the Year and Youth Entrepreneur of the Year.
In addition to their category awards, both winners received a 32-inch digital television set.
The maiden GYEA ceremony, organised by Essence Digimark Limited, an event and marketing company based in Accra, celebrated, recognised and honoured the contributions of Ghana’s emerging change makers.
More than 30 outstanding Ghanaian youth were honoured for their impact and contributions toward Ghana’s sustainable development.
Mr Edward Marfo, the Head of Communication, Ghana Youth Empowerment Awards, congratulated all winners and participants, urging the youth to make the most of the resources at their disposal.
He promised a bigger edition of the awards in early 2026.
The organisers expressed appreciation to their partners and host company for supporting the initiative.
They called on government and stakeholders to back such programmes to encourage young people to continue contributing their quota to the sustainable development of Ghana and the world at large.
