The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has opened a new office complex at Wiawso, to oversee the standardization of goods and services in the nine districts of the Western North Region.
Professor Alex Kofi Dodoo, the Director General of the GSA, at the opening of the edifice, said the new office was to reduce the stress of residents going through in accessing the Authority’s services in the region.
The Director General appealed to residents and opinion leaders to collaborate with the Authority to serve them better.
He said the Authority had posted 12 standard training inspectors and three technical as well as procurement officers, to start full operations in the newly built office.
Mr Suleman Ali, the Acting Western North Regional Coordinating Director, in a message on behalf of the Regional Minister, said the Authority has always been at the forefront of ensuring the safety, quality and the integrity of products and services consumed by the citizenry.
He said the opening of the new office in the Region was a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and equitable environment for all businesses and stakeholders.
“Our goal is to bring standards closer to the people, reduce the barriers to access and ensure that the Western North Region is not left out in the nation’s progress,” he said.
He further called on stakeholders to embrace the power of standards and quality and move forward in building a Ghana that was safer, stronger and more competitive on the global stage.
