Immigration officers intercept smuggled Planting for Food and Jobs fertilizers at Atanve

Officials of the Akanu Sector Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) have intercepted government’s Planting for Food and Jobs’ (PFJs) fertilizers being smuggled into neighbouring Republic of Togo.

The items, including agrochemicals were intercepted at an unapproved route through Atanvi in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta region.

Mr Felix Klu-Adjei, Volta Regional Public Affairs Officer of the GIS told the Ghana News Agency that the items were seized through intelligence gathering.

He said the suspects fled after they sighted the patrol team and that the items found on the motor tricycle with registration number M-19-VR-1763 were, eight bags of Urea fertilizers and 23 boxes of agrochemicals.

Mr Klu-Adjei said the tricycle and the items had been deposited at the Ave-Havi Border post for further investigations.
