Investors from Iran will soon arrive in the country to undertake feasibility studies for the establishment of an Engineering School of Technology to make Sunyani a technological hub in the country, Mr Seid Mubarak, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani East Constituency has said.

He said extensive discussions between his office and the investors were progressing, saying “I just returned from Iran and the outcome is very positive”. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Mr Seid said with the school, Sunyani would become a technological hub in the country, saying his office had collaborated with some traditional authorities and acres of land had been earmarked for the project.

“Very soon the very soon the investors will arrive in the country to undertake the feasibility studies”, he stated, adding that the investors had also developed interest to invest in agriculture.
The MP said the school would focus on training young people in robotics, manufacturing, assemble and repair mobile phones and other modern gadgets and devices as well as advanced Artificial Intelligence tools to create job opportunities for the people.

Besides his normal duties as MP, Mr Seid said he had prioritised job creation and was working tirelessly to woo investors to ensure that young people had decent jobs to do to enhance their socio-economic livelihoods. He expressed worry that the teeming unemployment rates in the constituency was luring many young people in the constituency into drug abuse and peddling, a situation he noted was very disturbing which needed to be tackled urgently.

Mr Seid said there were still some hopes for the unemployed youth in the country under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, and urged the youth to stay away from drugs that would ruin their future.
He said the government would soon roll out the 24-hour economy, assuring that the government through the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) was ready and would soon disburse some seed capital to young entrepreneurs to build and expand their businesses.

Mr Seid said the government had also resourced and strengthened the operations of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), National Youth Authority (NYA) and the Ghana Employment Agency (GEA) to create more job opportunities for the youth in the country.
He therefore urged the youth to remain calm and maintain their trust and confidence in President Mahama, as the government worked hard to build a better society for all.
