Professor Elvis Asare-Bediako, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), has said developing a successful career requires passion, purpose, networking and professional growth.

Prof. Asare-Bediako said this at the maiden Alumni Job and Career Fair of the University in Sunyani.

He explained that building a successful career entail more than just possessing technical expertise, but also necessitating soft skills, emotional intelligence, and strong support network.

The UENR Alumni Association organized the fair aimed at promoting industry-academia collaboration and to drive innovation and career development.

It also enhanced career development by providing students and graduates with resources, workshops, and mentoring opportunities to improve their employability and professional skills.

Prof. Asare-Bediako highlighted the importance of collaborations between universities and the industry, employers and alumni, describing the fair as a vital platform for bridging the gap between education and employment, and aspiration and achievement.

Engaging with industry professionals, exploring diverse career paths, and participating in meaningful discussions, graduates would be empowered to make informed decisions about their futures.

Prof. Asare-Bediako said human empowerment extended beyond academic knowledge to foster a mind-set of resilience, adaptability, and continuous learning, saying the future was brighter to those ready to step out of their comfort zones, embrace change and capitalize on opportunities.

He said was undertaking new initiatives to improve program, enhance research capabilities, and build stronger relationships with industry and communities.

Mr. Lewis Ofori Amankona, the Global Alumni Chairman, the UENR Alumni Association, commended the Alumni for their contributions towards the growth and development of the university.

He said donation of communication devices to the Security Department, renovation of the Dormaa Campus Clinic washrooms, and provision of essential office equipment to the Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations Office by the Alumni were in the right direction.

The Alumni introduced the Alumni Academic Support Fund (AASF) to assist students, he stated saying over 20 students had so far benefited.
