Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Divisional chief said proposed traditional council among others would address the concerns, providing a platform for accurate information dissemination and community empowerment.

Ubor Mboribe, in collaboration with other chiefs made the call during “Linujil” yam festival, which is a vibrant cultural celebration that brings together all natives of Konkomba people to promote unity, peace and gratitude for their harvest.

During the festival, which was held in Bonakye under Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, the Konkomba chiefs made a call for a traditional council for empowerment.

Ubor Jacob Ntenyinbor Kijortiik, the Konkomba chief of Kechiebi said the festival marks the onset of the yam harvest, symbolizing nourishment, and the essence of life in the Konkomba communities.

He explained that the festival showcased traditional music and dance performances, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the Konkomba people.

Ubor Kijortiik said the  Linujil Yam festival serves as a catalyst for transformation, promoting peace, harmony and socio-econimic growth within the communities.

During the Linujil yam festival, Ubor Kijortiik seized the opportunity and urged the government to focus attention on the deplorable Nkwanta- Kpasa road for rehabilitation.

He explained that the road network has been a long-standing concern for the communities and commuters using the stretch daily, hindering economic growth and development in the region.

Some community members also called on the government and the Ministry of Health to address the dire need for more health facilities, specifically Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compounds in the Municipality.

They said lack of access to healthcare is severely impacting their members and urged for immediate action to bridge this gap.
