Dr. Samuel Okoe Amanquah, the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has lauded the government for the provision of the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) machines to aid in road repairs and construction within the municipality.

Dr. Amanquah highlighted the significant role the machines are expected to play in addressing the municipality’s long-standing issue of poor road networks, which has been a major concern for residents and commuters.

He said the condition of the roads had hampered transportation and trade activities, making it difficult for businesses to thrive and affecting the daily lives of the populace.

Speaking with the Ghana News Agency in an interview, the MCE said the deployment of the DRIP machines would help the various metropolitan municipal and district assemblies (MMDAs) to improve the road infrastructure within the country.

He commended the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) government for prioritising the road sector, saying the machines would greatly expedite ongoing road projects.

“This intervention by the government is timely and much appreciated. The roads in this municipality have been in poor shape for years, and this has negatively impacted both economic and social activities; the arrival of the DRIP machines gives us hope that these challenges will soon be a thing of the past,” Dr. Amanquah said.

He further explained that the DRIP machines, designed to work efficiently on bad roads, will ensure the rapid rehabilitation of key areas within the municipality, noting that this will enhance connectivity between communities, reduce vehicular wear and tear, and improve access to basic services such as healthcare and education.

The MCE assured residents of the assembly’s commitment to ensure the timely execution of the road improvement project and encouraged all stakeholders, including local contractors, to cooperate fully to ensure the smooth and successful completion of the road rehabilitation works.

The Kpone-Katamanso Municipality has, over the years, faced numerous challenges with its road infrastructure, particularly during the rainy seasons when several roads become virtually impassable.
