Some 145 retired ministers of the Gospel and their spouses, in the Assemblies of God Church, have benefitted from the periodic health screening programme, organised by the Lordina Foundation.

The quarterly initiative, held at the Ringway branch of the Church, in Accra, provided vital health consultation and medication to sustain the well-being of the retirees.

First Lady Mrs Lordina Mahama initiated the programme following a pledge she made during a church event in September 2024.

Urologists, gynaecologists, dieticians, opticians, and general practitioners were among the specialists who handled the screening and consultations.

The beneficiaries were checked for their blood sugar levels, Hepatitis B, certain cancers, and prostate health, and other vital status.

Mrs Mahama urged the participants to take advantage of the services offered and emphasised the importance of adhering strictly to prescribed medications.

The initiative forms part of the Foundation’s social responsibility to support those who have dedicated their lives to serving others.

Mrs Mahama informed the retired preachers about the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as Mahama Cares, and encouraged those with chronic non-communicable diseases to enroll on the programme.

She explained that the programme was designed to support  the health needs of those with conditions not fully covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

It will also  provide preventive care services  at the community level.

Mrs Mahama thanked the medical team for their hard work and the leadership of the Assemblies of God church, particularly the Reverend Benjamin Teye Tettey, Head Pastor of the Ringway Gospel Centre, for providing the venue for the quarterly clinics.

This is the third, coming after services rendered in November 2024 and March 2025.

Rev Dr Harry Insaidoo, President of the Assemblies of God Retired Ministers and Spouses Association, expressed gratitude for the gesture.
