Mr Adam Mutawakilu, Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited (GWL), accompanied by some officials, has paid a courtesy call on Dalun-Lana (Chief of Dalun) Tapha Mahamadu II, at his palace at Dalun in the Kumbungu District.

The visit was to inform the Dalun-Lana about steps being taken to address the water crisis affecting Tamale, Yendi, and Damongo.

Mr Mutawakilu assured the Dalun-Lana of the GWL’s commitment to resolving the water crisis to ensure a sustainable and reliable water supply.

He acknowledged the frustration of residents and assured them that his leadership was fully committed to finding a lasting solution to the situation. The water crisis in those city and towns has left thousands of residents struggling for potable water for their various activities.

The GWL draws water from the White Volta River and treats it at Nawuni, near Dalun in the Northern Region for distribution to Tamale and its environs but the pollution of the river and obsolete equipment make it difficult for the GWL to produce enough water to meet the rising demand.

Dalun-Lana Mahamadu II expressed concern about the situation, saying it was a major concern for the traditional leadership in the affected areas.

He expressed confidence in the leadership of Mr Mutawakilu and wished him success in his attempt to address the situation to restore regular water supply to the areas.
