Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu has described President Akufo-Addo’s comment in an apparent support of health minister, Kweku Agyemang Manu as another demonstration of the President shielding errands appointees.
The citizen vigilante says the president’s failure to take a decisive action on corruption allegations in government is to the lack of will to deal with the concord.
Martin Amidu also sited finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta for taking Ghanaians for granted by courting empathy for the health minister who was found for committing several breaches in the controversial Sputnik Vaccine deal with the Emirate Sheikh Al Maktoon.
He noted the comments by the President and Finance minister, he describes as co-president typified the level of interference of government in the anti-corruption fight.
Mr Amidu has also in his latest epistle been taking on parliament. He said, “The content of the Adhoc parliamentary committee report has expectedly turned into a partisan political point scoring contest between the NPP government and the dominant opposition NDC both on the floor of parliament and in the media since parliament went on recess”
Mr Amidu’s epistle concludes with the call for Ghanaians to vote out the incumbent government which has failed to live up to its trick to fight corruption.
Mr Amidu’s publication comes on the back of findings by an Adhoc Parliamentary committee that Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, failed to comply to with procurement laws in an attempt to procure some 3.4 million doses of Sputnik Vaccines at an inflated unit price of $19, more that the ex-factory price.
It was also revealed that the Government of Ghana made a 50% payment to comply with his part of the bargain. The contract was eventually terminated. Consequently, the committee directed sums of money that had been paid in respect of the botched contract be retrieved.
