The Government, through the Ghana Education Service (GES), has pledged to complete a modern Robotic Engineering Laboratory for Mfantsipim School by the first quarter of 2026 as part of efforts to boost Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in Ghana.

According to GES Director-General Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, major works on the facility — including painting, installation of burglar-proof systems, and setup of gadgets and engineering kits — have already been completed. He added that over 70 per cent of the imported equipment is already in the country, with the remainder expected by the end of the year.

Speaking at Mfantsipim’s 149th Speech and Prize-Giving Day, themed “Hɛn Nananom Botae Pa: 149 Years of Sustaining Legacy, Building Excellence,” Prof. Davis, himself an alumnus, said the laboratory would strengthen the school’s tradition of academic excellence by providing hands-on STEM learning opportunities.

“The facility will help students develop creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while preparing them for careers in robotics, AI, and automation,” he noted.

He also urged students to emulate the school’s distinguished alumni — including Dr. K.A. Busia, Kofi Annan, Dr. Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, Mr. Kow Nkensen Arkaah, and Dr. Ernest Addison — by combining academic excellence with discipline and moral integrity.

Headmaster Mr. Ebenezer Kobina Aidoo expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their continued support, describing Mfantsipim as “a citadel of character, intellect, and excellence.” He commended students and staff for maintaining the school’s reputation through academic and extracurricular achievements, citing their 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) victory as proof of their dedication.

As the school prepares to celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2026, Mr. Aidoo called for unity and collective effort to preserve its rich legacy.

Outstanding students, teachers, and non-teaching staff were honoured for their contributions to the school’s success.
