The Medical Director of Midway Hospital, Dr. (Mrs.) Gifty Quarshie-Ngissah, states that the hospital will invest in improved diagnostic infrastructure and clinical spaces over the next five years to continue transforming lives.

She stated that the hospital was also expanding its range of services and operations to meet the changing requirements of patients.

At the hospital’s 45th Anniversary Celebrations in Accra, Dr. Quarshie-Ngissah gave a speech. “Honoring a legacy, advancing a vision: 45 years of transforming lives” was the theme of the anniversary celebration.

Additionally, a bust in honor of the Hospital’s founder, Dr. Joseph Ameni Quarshie, was unveiled. To mark the anniversary, the hospital had lined up series of activities, including a free National Health Insurance Scheme registration for residents of Okaikoi North,  a staff thanksgiving service and year-long health education programmes for schools and corporate organisations.

She said 45 years of Midway Hospital was a legacy built on faith, sacrifice, and a steadfast commitment to patient-centered care.

The Medical Director said it would also strengthen reproductive health services for greater accessibility and outcomes and engage more deeply with their communities and strategic partners and build capacity through staff development and specialisation

Dr Quarshie-Ngissah said their direction remained rooted in the theme they adopted in 2020, “A Future of Endless Possibilities.”

She said with visionary leadership, resilient teams, and collaborative partnerships, “we are working to ensure that world-class care is not a privilege, but a promise, a promise accessible to every individual who walks through our doors.”

Dr Robert Amesiya, the Greater Accra Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service, called on government to channel more resources into high-performing private health institutions to help improve national healthcare outcomes.

He emphasised the need for policies that empower well-performing private providers to complement the public sector in bridging the healthcare access gap.

Dr Amesiya commended the Management of the Hospital for their growth and resilience in providing services to the  community.

He said it was encouraging to hear patients publicly share positive stories about Midway’s care, a situation that hardly happen in the health sector.
