Mr Ebenezer Smith, popularly known as Millennium Chef Smith, has been officially declared as the Guinness World Cook-a-thon Record Holder, cooking for 802 hours and 25 minutes, dethroning Irish Record Holder Alan Fisher.

Mr Smith and his management team announced this at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, July 2.

Chef Smith started his cooking challenge on February 1, 2024, with an initial target of 1,200 hours but ended on March 6 after breaking the existing record by a wide margin.

Speaking at the press conference, he expressed profound gratitude to his family, mentors, management team, sponsors and all Ghanaians for the massive support he had received.

“Cooking has always been my true passion, my calling, and to be recognised on a global scale for my abilities is truly a dream come true.

“From the moment I decided to accept the challenge, I knew it would be  a test of not just my culinary skills, but also my resilience and determination,” Chef Smith said.

He added that the achievement was not just about him, but a celebration of Ghanaian cuisine, culture, and talent and a reminder that, Ghana “has so much to offer the world when it comes to food and hospitality”.

He assured that he would continue to explore new horizons and take Ghanaian cuisine to new heights whilst inspiring others to follow their passion and never to give up on their dreams.

Before Chef Smith, some other Ghanaians, including Afua Asantewaa with her longest singing marathon and Chef Faila with her longest cooking marathon attempted to set Guinness World Records.
