Morocco and France have urged an immediate halt to the attacks in Gaza and Lebanon. King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron made the call during talks at the Royal Palace in Rabat Monday night as part of activities marking the French President’s three-day State visit to Morocco.

A statement issued by the Royal Office said the two Heads of state emphasised the priority of protecting civilians, and guaranteeing and facilitating the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid.

“The Sovereign and the French President recalled the urgent need to reactivate the peace process, within the framework of a two-State solution, with an independent Palestinian State on the June 4, 1967 border, with East Jerusalem as its Capital,” the Palace said.

The statement said President Macron commended the constructive role of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, for peace in the Middle East.

Earlier, King Mohammed VI and President Macron signed the Declaration on “the reinforced exceptional partnership” between the Kingdom and the Republic, aimed at enabling the two countries to better address shared challenges.

Under the partnership, France and Morocco would work together to deepen and modernise their partnership to promote economic development, social cohesion and their “strategic autonomy.”

President Macron and his spouse, Brigitte Macron touched down at the Rabat-Salé Airport Monday afternoon to begin his three-day visit to Morocco from October 28 to October 30, 2024, at the invitation of King Mohammed VI.

Mr Macron is also expected to address the Moroccan Parliament on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 and proceed with other official activities before his departure on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
