The National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Program(GSFP), Dr Mrs Gertrude Quashigah, has appealed to the government to consider and approve her outfit’s request for an upward adjustment in the feeding grant per child.

This, she said, will cushion caterers in their work. She made this known in a statement on Monday, September 6, directing all caterers to begin the provision of services to their respective beneficiary schools from Tuesday, September 7. The day marks the reopening of most schools.

“The caterers are advised to use Monday 6th September, 2021 to clean their kitchen environment and prepare to start cooking of nutritious meal for the beneficiary pupils from Tuesday 7th September, 2021,” the National Coordinator said in the statement.

“All caterers are also encouraged to put up good performance throughout the term to ensure that the beneficiary pupils are fed with the right quality and quantity of meal within the 67 school going days.”

The statement also stated that, “Caterers should strictly observe the COVID-19 protocol in line with Government’s directive to mitigate the spread of the pandemic.”

Mrs Quashigah congratulated them for “their endurance, patience and dedication towards their work”, welcoming all to the 3rd term of the 2021 academic year.

She also thanked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo “for the release of funds to settle the 1st term arrears of our caterers”.
