Mr Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister says the region is not going through load shedding exercise in power supply.

Rather, he said engineers of the Sunyani Area of the National Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) were fixing a technical problem that had trigged unstable power supply in parts of the region.

Mr Akwaboa therefore asked the populace to disregard the politicisation of the power intermittent power supply, assuring that the technical challenge would be resolved soon.

The Regional Minister said this in an interview with the media after inspecting the power plant of the Sunyani Area NEDCo in Sunyani following the technical challenge which had contributed to power fluctuations and outages.

Mr Akwaboa tasked the NEDCo to tackle the challenges promptly and to restore full power supply for the people.

Mr Eugene Odoi Addo, the Sunyani Area Manager for NEDCo said “our breakers are not functioning well disrupting the power supply,” however, added that the problem would be resolved soon.

“We procured the breakers between six and eight years ago and they are still new, however they are insufficient due to the region’s expansion and the increasing number of residential and commercial developments,” he stated.

Mr Addo said the company required an additional system, saying the Area NEDCo had plans to build substations at some communities including Fiapre, Abesim, Berekum, and others to enhance the company’s operational flexibility.
