The Canada Branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, describing her as a trailblazer in women’s empowerment and national development.
In a statement issued by the branch’s executives, the NPP Canada Branch hailed the late Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings as an iconic figure in Ghana’s political and social history whose influence transcended political boundaries.
The statement highlighted her pioneering role through the 31st December Women’s Movement, which gave thousands of Ghanaian women opportunities in leadership, entrepreneurship, and community development.
“Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings was an iconic figure in Ghana’s political and social landscape, a trailblazer who championed women’s empowerment and national development long before these became mainstream causes,” the statement said.
The branch further praised her passion, courage, and dedication to public service, noting that her legacy will continue to inspire generations of Ghanaians.
“As a political party, we honour her legacy as one of Ghana’s most formidable and influential women,” the statement added.
The NPP Canada Branch extended heartfelt condolences to her family, her children, and the entire nation, praying for her peaceful rest and for her contributions to Ghana’s progress to remain ever remembered.
