Professor John Ofosu-Anim, the Vice-Chancellor of the PUG, during the matriculation ceremony observed that university experience was not just about attending classes and earning grades.

“University experience is also about engaging in holistic journey of self-discovery, personal development and intellectual exploration” the Don said, and urged the freshers to take advantage of diverse academic programs at their disposable.

The Vice-chancellor said the world was evolving rapidly and success required a strong foundation of knowledge, ethics and adaptability adding that, “whether you are pursuing science, technology or business strive for excellence, embrace critical thinking.”

To those pursuing medical science and nursing, he reminded them of the demanding nature of the field of health which required not only intellect but also compassion, resilience, and a deep sense of responsibility.

Prof Ofosu-Anim said: “You have chosen a profession where your actions can directly impact the well-being and lives of individuals, the healthcare profession is built on a foundation of compassion, empathy, and a dedication to healing and do always remember the profound impact you can have on the lives of patients and their families.”

Professor Ofosu-Anim expressed the hope that the fresh students would not allow peer pressure to lead them onto the “path of destruction”; rather, they would imbibe the famous Presbyterian discipline to become great leaders in future.
