A statement from the Presidency says 1500 hours would be the time to swear in the Constitution Review Committee members, while that of the ministerial nominees is 1630 hours at the seat of Government in Accra. Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister-designate for Lands and Natural Resources; Mr. Tia Ibrahim, North East Regional Minister-designate; Dr Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister-designate; and Mr. Akamugri Atanga Modestus, Upper East Regional Minister-designate would be sworn in.

Others are Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, Interior, and Madam Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Gender, Children, and Social Protection. The eight-member Constitution Review Committee is under the Chairmanship of Professor Henry Kwasi Prempeh, the Executive Director of the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), while Dr Rainer Akumperigeya is the Secretary.

The members are Justice Sophia Adinyirah, Dr Godwin Djokoto, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, Dr Esi Ansah, Prof Kwame Karikari, and Mr. Ibrahim Tanko Amidu. The Committee is expected to identify and address the gaps in, and the challenges with the implementation of, previous constitutional review work done by the 2010 Committee.

It is to engage key stakeholders to solicit their views on the proposals for Constitution Review Commission and the 2023 Constitution Review Consultative amendment of the 1992 Constitution. It is to make actionable recommendations aimed at enhancing democratic governance in Ghana.

The composition of the Committee underscores the President’s desire to engage persons of proven expertise, dedication to the service of the nation and commitment to good governance, to manage the process. The Committee will present its recommendations for constitution amendments within five months for consideration by the Government.
