Ten young entrepreneurs will today pitch their innovative business ideas before a panel of judges in a competitive bid to access part of the GH¢1 million to establish their start-up businesses.
The ceremony will be the final stage of this year’s Presidential Pitch Programme (PPP), which is designed to provide the opportunity, including funding for young Ghanaians between the ages of 18 and 35 years, to turn their business ideas into viable businesses.
The PPP started with a call for application on June 16 this year, and will climax today at a ceremony in Accra which will be attended by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
This year’s edition of the PPP, which is the third in the series, shortlisted 100 applicants from the many submissions that poured in from across the country. The figure was further pruned to 20 applicants out of which the 10 finalists were selected.
Background
At the launch of the programme last month, the Minister of Business Development, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, said GH¢1 million had been earmarked for the successful finalists as a grant “at no cost to them.”
“The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in 2018 launched the Presidential Pitch to support young Ghanaians who have brilliant business ideas but don’t have the money to implement them and be job owners and job creators,” Dr Awal said.
