The three-member committee established by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to investigate allegations of inducement and vote-buying during the Ayawaso East parliamentary primary is expected to submit its report on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
The committee was constituted following claims that some aspirants engaged in bribery during the party’s parliamentary primary held on Saturday, February 7. Among the allegations is that one of the contestants, Baba Jamal, distributed television sets, cash and other items to delegates in an attempt to influence the outcome of the election.
Although Baba Jamal emerged victorious, the results have generated controversy within the party, with the Majority in Parliament and several prominent NDC members calling for the annulment of the election. These calls, however, have been firmly resisted by constituency-level party executives.
Speaking to Citi News on Monday, February 9, committee member Inusah Fuseini explained that the panel’s mandate is purely fact-finding and focused on gathering evidence from all relevant parties involved in the primaries.
According to him, the committee has engaged officials who supervised the election, as well as the candidates and party executives at both the constituency and regional levels. He noted that the findings will be presented to the party leadership, alongside recommendations to guide its next course of action.
The committee’s report is expected to play a key role in determining how the NDC addresses the allegations surrounding the Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries.
